Responsibilities: The producer gathers and selects news content, writes and copy edits stories, assembles the stories into a rundown, and creates graphics and visuals to complement the presentation of material for the on-air broadcast and digital platforms. This includes generating story ideas, writing and/or producing packages for air. Work closely with News Managers, Assignment Desk, news reporters and other newsroom employees on story conception and development and execution of story. Create and write content for digital platforms that cross-promote and/or supplement station’s news gathering efforts. Participate in editorial meetings, contributing ideas and innovative ways to present material. Producers will also be assigned to produce or oversee special projects, productions, or live coverage of station-sponsored events. Other duties assigned as deemed appropriate and necessary.
The producer must be able to write news copy clearly, in broadcast style, for on-air, online, and other digital platforms. Must be able to assemble news material in a logical and organized fashion and present finished stories in a professional and engaging manner for viewers/readers to be able to comprehend the latest local, national and international news. Strong writing and producing skills are essential. Ability to contribute ideas on a daily basis and to recognize what types of stories would make for interesting and compelling television and online content. Ability to adapt to a fast paced quickly changing environment and react in live situations to cover breaking news, etc. Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with peers and supervisors and to develop contacts outside the building to aid in newsgathering. The producer must be enterprising and self-motivated and be able to work independently to develop newscast or assigned production. Requires a thorough understanding of all journalistic standards and broadcast production techniques used to create visual and compelling on-air and online content. Bachelor’s Degree in journalism or related field required. Must have experience producing TV newscasts (minimum of 2 years). Familiarity with Bit Central, iNews and Edius a plus. Must be able to meet aggressive deadlines while completing high quality broadcasts. Must have thorough understanding of social media platforms and experience posting to digital platforms.
Creative Services Director
Responsibilities: Oversee all aspects of marketing for KTVU and KTVU Plus by directing and supervising the stations’ advertising, promotion, publicity, program services, graphic design, sales promotions and retail commercial production. Responsible for supervision of Promotion, Design, Retail and Program Services departments. Responsible for the stations’ on-air and off-air promotional sound and “look”. Creates and executes station marketing campaign, including branding and image. Develop and monitor operating and capital budgets and expenditures. Liaison with Fox network regarding station promotional activities. Other duties may be assigned as deemed appropriate and necessary.
Qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree in marketing or a related field is required. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a major TV market or 8 years in a medium size TV market in Creative Services/Marketing is required. Prior supervisory experience required. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. Must be a highly effective strategic and creative thinker and a creative idea generator. Must have advanced knowledge of the media industry and our marketplace. Must be flexible, adaptable and able to work well in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Microsoft Office knowledge also required.
Responsibilities: Writes, produces and/or, tags local and regional commercials. Meets with clients and sales account executives to brainstorm concepts and help develop budgets per department guidelines. Administers entire projects including shooting, editing, picking music, and coordinating talent, artwork, scripts, sound effects, dubbing and traffic follow-through. Keeps monthly Retail reports for sales and other special reports as required by VP of Creative Services. Supervises selection of shooting locations, coordinates scripts between department and client and all post production activities. Coordinates production scheduling with Creative Services, Program Services and other station departments. Assist local and national sales with production services as necessary, e.g., Billboards, sales presentations, real and spec spots. Responsible for monthly client billing, as needed.Also responsible for concepting, writing, producing, editing and designing high-end station image, and sports promotion destined to capture viewer’s attention. Final product could be used on-air, online or on outside media (i.e. Cable systems, streaming channels). Write/produce/edit attention-getting news topical promos and special report promos for the Bay Area’s #1 newscasts. Create sponsored sales promos and handle all of the challenges that go with conforming to a client’s wishes. Must be able to work under pressure to produce high quality promotional spots on tight deadlines, both individually and as part of a production team. Requirements: Must possess a working knowledge of The Adobe Suite of editing and design software. (Premiere, After Effects, etc.), and Microsoft Office. Two to four years' experience writing, producing and editing promos in a medium to large market strongly preferred. News promotion experience preferred. College Degree preferred. Videography and lighting skills strongly desired. The perfect applicant would be an idea person who is willing to push the envelope and work well with a team of creative types.
Traffic Assistant/Log Editor
Responsibilities: Strong analytical skills are needed to join this exciting and fast-paced organization. As part of the Commercial Operations team, you will be responsible for configuring, monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing our daily logs. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Work with inventory, program formats, process and download Station logs. Back-up other position in the traffic department as needed. Works closely with Local Sales Account Executives, National and Local Sales Assistants, Engineering and Promotion departments. Other duties assigned as deemed necessary and appropriate.
Requirements: Weekends, holidays and varied hours req. Strong and accurate PC and typing skills and data entry experience required. Must be detail oriented. Prior experience in broadcast traffic preferred. Prior experience on WideOrbit traffic system preferred. Requires excellent attention to detail, organizational skills and accuracy. Must be able to interact professionally with a variety of people and work efficiently and courteously with station personnel. HS diploma or equivalent is required with a College degree preferred.
Assignment Desk Editor
Responsibilities: Independently, generate news stories within KTVU’s standards and guidelines. Research and develop local news stories. Monitor wire services, mail, phone beats, radios, social media sites etc., for breaking news stories. At the direction of news management, gather background material and set-up news stories for reporters and photographers. Contribute to station’s social media platforms, creating content and breaking news on various platforms. Evaluate and list newsworthy events in computerized assignment planning files. Work closely with news management, news reporters, producers, web department and photographers to cover news events and breaking news. Work with FOX station group and other affiliated partners to provide video for feeds and/or coordinate coverage of events. Provide direction to news crews in the field. Maintain a future file and beat check for news material. Work with news staff to gather elements needed for news packages and online content. Develop outside news sources and contacts. Work with the news management team on continuing efforts to upgrade the news generating capabilities of KTVU. Must exercise independent thinking and be aware of the development and urgency of news events and have the ability to cover and translate those stories into maximum viewer interest. Requirements: Associated degree (or equivalent) in Journalism or Communications from a college or university plus major market TV assignment editor experience is required. Strong communication skills, both written and oral, required. Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge and understanding of the latest ways to utilize social media, both as a news gathering tool and to communicate with our audience.
Responsibilities: Assist the Vice President/General Manager of KTVU and KTVU Plus by acting as liaison with other station executives, corporate, clients, community organizations, etc., using discretion, judgment and initiative. Schedules appointments for General Manager and maintains calendar. Maintains confidential files and other records precisely and in a timely manner. Schedules meetings and station events. Use judgment on all details of these arrangements, including cost. This position includes station-wide duties including: making travel arrangements for all departments, ordering office supplies, checking in package deliveries, incoming and outgoing mail, toner cartridge recycle program and conference room scheduling. Also assists station Department Heads with various duties, as assigned. Other duties assigned as deemed appropriate and necessary.
Requirements: A High School diploma or general education degree (GED) is required plus three years administrative or executive assistant experience. Business or college degree preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Office product experience required. Must have the ability to carry out duties described above independently and with absolute confidentiality. Responsibilities: Candidate will provide administrative support to the KTVU Fox 2 and KICU TV36 Sales management staff and Account Executives. News Editor (part time)
RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs functions of a News Video Editor, using non-linear systems by editing raw video to predetermined lengths to tell compelling, understandable and accurate visual stories, following the instructions of producers, writers, reporters, supervisors, etc. Exercise excellent professional judgment based on current broadcast industry video and audio quality and editing standards. Follow station policies regarding journalistic standards of good taste, quality and appropriateness, and alert managers when questions arise regarding any of these concerns. Coordinate editing information with writer, reporter, producer and/or supervisors. Locate, file and computerize archival video. Record video and audio feeds from sources including microwave, satellite, fiber, phone, and other web-based/internet feeds. Make dubs and prepare video for use in-house, in the field and for other related news department purposes. Additional duties assigned as deemed appropriate or necessary.

Local Sales Manager
Responsibilities: Candidate will have responsibility for sale of ad time and digital assets to local/regional clients-agencies. Assist with the training, development and motivation of a local sales team. Establish and monitor local budgets. Develop/implement new business plan. Develop rating estimates and assist with research pieces. Deal effectively with a varied list of clients. Communicate effectively with and establish strong relationships with local agencies & clients. Demonstrate leadership to the department and fellow managers; all designed to achieve and exceed station goals and objectives on all media platforms; television, internet, mobile and digital channels. Maintain LPM market rating and programming knowledge. Other duties assigned as deemed necessary and appropriate.

Maintain and improve existing client list and generate new business on our FOX stations and websites in order to generate significant revenue and achieve sales budget. Make presentations to advertising agencies and clients. Responsible for selling sponsorships that may include promotions initiated by sales persons. Compile lists of prospective customers to use as sales leads. This position involves local travel to call on regular and prospective clients.

A Bachelors’ Degree plus four years of major market experience in transactional and online advertising sales is required. Candidate must be proficient in negotiating utilizing Nielsen LPM ratings and qualitative information. Strong communication and presentation skills – both written and oral are required.
